History

Long ago, when there were still warring clans, it was agreed that those who were defeated would serve the victors for all time. The Seraphs were one such clan who were forced into servitude to the humans who dwelled beneath them. Though many live for centuries, far more time than the average human, they were forced to serve generation after generation.  To keep their numbers low, any medical help is denied to these winged creatures. Should they have a serious injury it is forbidden for it to be tended to by anyone. If they are unable to overcome and illness or heal a wound then that Seraph would perish, thus lessening their numbers more. Over the years this has persisted but still their numbers were too high for the humans to feel comfortable. Every hundred years  humans chose to completely destroy the home of the Seraphs to force them to move and start over, in order to distract them from thoughts of rebelling.

The males are chosen at a young age to protect the rulers of a chosen village. They will continue to protect ruler after ruler until they themselves die of age, injury, or illness. As with their humans, the males of the species are few and not at all interested in procreation. What race would be if they knew they would be cursing their children into a life that is worth less than a human slave?

Blaise is one such male who had been chosen to serve the race of man. He has done so for the last twelve years of his live, sustaining and recovering from injuries or illnesses by means that he keeps to himself. His home is surrounded by various plants that he has used as a way to cure certain illnesses or injuries. He had spoken to no one of the use of the plants and he keeps to himself in order to keep anyone from noticing his recovery and the way he recovers. Every three months he will disappear from his home for three days and never speaks of where he spends that time. In the six thousand years of servitude, he is one of the most rebellious of his race but one cannot stand alone against thousands. It is for that that he remained quiet and secluded.
