Through my time playing, I've heard many a person, mostly christians(I mean NO offense whatso ever to ANY christians, I myself am one in fact.), that bash on the game and other similer games. So I decided to go out and see what some people had to say. To make a long story short...if you read some of the stuff and you like role-playing..over half the time something just seems to piss you off. But here's some sites I found for you guys to debate over. Ya don't have to debate over just the site, but more so the topic. I'm Catholic and role play A LOT. I don't have any problems with it from a religous standpoint, and neither does my dad... who is uuber Catholic and usually down on pretty much anything non-canonical. In fact, my Catholic High School started a AD&D club after I graduated. Bear in mind that fundamentalists (the people who accuse role playing games of channeling satan and causing evil misbehavior, as opposed to people who just think RPGs shouldn't be played for religious reasons [ie, it's sinful to pretend to be a god or demon]) are idiots. Just because one sect of Christianity is full of loud goobers doesn't mean that all sects of Christianity are. He's the guy that tells you that Pokemon are demons, and for those college students out there, stands in the middle of campus telling the passing students that they're damned to hell. And as for the people that he listed as killing themselves or others because of D&D. I imagine, if he did more research into those people, he'd see that they probably has some psychological disorders. No sane, stable person is going to take D&D or any RPG seriously. And notice how he only pointed out the violent aspects of the game. Which isn't what D&D is all about, like he claims. It actually all depends on the DM. For instance, TM, who was my Dungeon Master for years, was more fond of puzzles, comedy, and love storys than violence, demons and sex, like this guy claims that D&D is about. And speaking of the sex that he says is in the game. I've never, ever been part of a campaign that involved me having sex with some NPC or other PC. What in the blue hell is this all about? Who the hell would do such a thing? And as for the magic that's supposably "real". The day I see a wiccan cast a magic missle is the day I'll believe that. And I some how don't believe that Corellon Larethian, or Solonor Thelandira (Elven Dieties) are based upon real occult gods. These guy obviously just did some basic research on the game, and made up alot of the crap which he said. From what I've seen, this is what alot of christian extremeist do to scare people into seeing their obscured and many times, wrong views. You know you all speak very broad band.. about christians that is.. I happend to be one.. I don't bash people, and I don't ack like and asshole to people either. I'm not mad or nuffin someone just used that word ^_^ anyways, I was role playing D&D and I stopped cus, from a christianity point of view, i found out what Witchcraft and spells and all that, well, wasn't good in my religion.. but then i decided that you know, God isn't going to condem me unless i'm over here actually getting rat tails and goats blood and humming to the spirits of the underworld.. be realistic is what I say. i understand a lot of people are stiff headed, especially when it comes to religions.. Christianity,, isn't just one religion though, there are catholics baptists, pentocosts * i might be spelling that wrong* ect. ect. lots of different stuff.. I focus on Jesus, and how I love and honor him, that's it. That's what i feel is important.. All the other stuff i'm finding out was just written by people in the past * i'm taking a christianity history college course* And a lot of it was shocking to see.. you know, Christianity had to abide to Roman laws to surivive, so they weren't killed, that meant going against some of what Jesus wanted.. Lots of people did wrong back in the day, people don't seem to realized that, the bible shows that they have done wrong.. but people don't seem to see it.
