History: Born July 31, 1980, Harry was barely a year old when Lord Voldemort, the darkest wizard of all time, singled him out as the greatest threat to his rise to power, based on a prophecy that Sybil Trelawney gave. He broke into Harry's parents' home in Godric's Hollow and, after killing both of them, attempted the killing curse on baby Harry. Though, thanks to Lily's sacrifice, the curse backfired on Voldemort and left him powerless and bodiless (also making Harry a horcrux).

Baby Harry survived and was taken to live the beginning of his life on Privet Drive in Little Whining, Surrey, with his mother's sister Petunia, and his Uncle Vernon and cousin Dudley. He was miserable here, and was treated very poorly because of his wizarding heritage (which was kept a secret from him), until the time when Rubeus Hagrid, groundskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, found him and revealed everything. He told Harry that he was accepted into the famous wizarding school.

After learning of how famous he is, as the Boy Who Lived, Harry's first year at Hogwarts was interesting, to say the least. He befriended Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, fellow Gryffindors, and learned of the secret Philosopher's Stone being guarded right beneath the school, and suspected the suspicious Professor Severus Snape of attempting to steal it. They decided to try and stop him, and discovered it was Professor Quirrell instead, under the influence of a ghostly Lord Voldemort. Together, they attacked Harry, but failed when the love impregnated within Harry's skin killed Quirrell. The stone remained safe.

His second year was slightly more eventful. He discovered he could speak Parseltongue (talk to snakes) and everyone suspected him of being the heir of Slytherin, who had returned to Hogwarts to open the Chamber of Secrets and unleash a monster to kill all of the Muggle-born students in the school. It was, however, Lord Voldemort himself disguised as a memory implanted within Tom Riddle's diary. The spirit of Voldemort possessed Ginny Weasley and had her open the Chamber. Harry, Ron and Professor Lockheart went down into the Chamber of Secrets and stopped Tom Riddle's spirit from fully realizing and returning. Harry also succeeded in killing the monster basilisk within the Chamber.

Harry's third year was much more personal for the up-and-coming wizard. Harry learned about the escape of Sirius Black from the prison Azkaban, the man Harry learned had sold out a trusting James and Lily Potter to Lord Voldemort himself...causing their deaths. Harry also learned that Sirius was now after him. Harry met the new teacher, Remus Lupin, and formed a quick friendship with the man who had been close with his parents, especially after Lupin agreed to help Harry ward off the Dementors, Azkaban's guards who had come to Hogwarts to capture Sirius when he appeared. This year was also Hagrid's first year teaching, and he introduced Harry to Buckbeak, the hippogriff. Harry learned that Sirius is his Godfather, and that he is actually a friend, and it was Peter Pettigrew who sold out his parents. Pettigrew had been hiding for the past 13 years as Ron's pet rat, Scabbers. After a failed attempt to bring Pettigrew to justice, Lupin transformed into his werewolf form and attacked them all. Harry followed Sirius to the Black Lake, where he witnessed himself - from the future - summoning a corporeal Patronus to drive away the army of Dementors attacking himself and Sirius. He and Hermione then went back in time to save Buckbeak, sentenced to death, and Sirius from a fate worse than death. Pettigrew got away.
