Catori 'Nailah' Zamah

I will dedicate
And sacrifice my everything for just a second's worth
Of how my story's ending
And I wish I could know if the directions that I take
And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing
Show me what it's for
Make me understand it
I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer
Is there something more than what i've been handed?
I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

History: Nailah was always an intelligent and inquisitive kid, a byproduct of her raising. Her mother was a College Professor and her Father in the field of computer and technology security. Nailah did not feel that either of these were her path. She had always felt that her path lay beyond what either of her parents did, or what anyone she knew did. Some might have called it a higher calling. In her teenage years, she had developed a hobby in computers, finding the shadier places online as she got more and more into piracy and hacking. She found that she was particularly good at it and was eager for the next level of challenges. This hobby would eventually change the course of her life, however.

Nailah eventually came across the infamous conspiracy theory regarding the Matrix. She was not so much into such things as government cover ups and secrets, but for some reason this one captivated her. She already had a solid name for herself in the hacker world as 'Destiny41'; which was innocent enough, it's meaning for her 'Destiny For One'. Her search and revelations regarding the Matrix and the feats she accomplished in the process made her reknown among circles of hackers and seekers of the elusive Matrix. It had also gotten the attention of Captain Marx of the Silvery Sprite. He became her first captain and her first ship. It was not always the case that a freed mind would end up serving on the same ship that had just freed them, but for her it had happened.

Marx was old, as was the ship. Eventually they both were retired and replaced as Zion built newer, and somewhat better, hovercraft. With this came Nailah's first transfer. She was moved to the Artemis under the command of Captain Daelith where she became the hovercraft's pilot. When she was not flying she was honing her fighting skills in the construct and on the deck watching the Operator station. Both had done her well. Nailah became not only an effective pilot, but an effective fighter inside the Matrix. She also developed an understanding of the multiple screens of flowing green text that the Operator worked from. Nailah never did attempt the job of working the Ops station, nor did she want to. But the skill proved to be somewhat useful. The Artemis, a small craft, is currently active still but Nailah's assignment there also came to an edn eventually.

Nailah was advanced to the Europa, a big turn in her career as she was named the hovercraft's Executive Officer. The Europa had been a good ship and she had been part of many Matrix missions aboard her. However, the hovercraft did not survive a sentinel attack. Nailah had been fortunate enough to fall from the craft as the Sentinels cut her up. They may have then turned on her if the help they had called for had not shown up. A little banged up, Nailah returned to Zion for a brief time before recieving her next assignment.

Nailah's next assignment was her current one, Captain of the Midway. She was a new ship, meant to function as any number of things from front line to fleet flagship. She was one of the largest ships as well, able to crew twelve individuals. As many as seven could jackin at a time. This was a fact that she did not envy the Operator over. It would have to be a talented individual to be able to keep up with that much information. Her time on the Artemis was the only other extended assignment she had had. This was without regret. The Midway has become her home, and her crew her family. Her current Executive officer, Bastion, is one of the many that Nailah was responsible for assisting in freeing in the course of her career. Herself and Bastion were now the longest standing crew members aboard the Midway. Some came and left through transfers, others were lost to the inevitable fighting in a war. A few of those had been close friends, faces she still mourned when alone. Nailah runs a tight ship, but she is compassionate and determined in her resolve. Their current missions have been small, quick runs into the Matrix to deliver something or to pick one up. She did not know the nature of these messages, but then she did not always know what Zion High Command had planned.
