Rihani was born to a man named Rohario Ambrai. Rohario had the potential to become a Jedi, but the opportunity was taken away by the newly formed Empire, which destroyed the old Jedi Order. Instead he married, and had two children, Rihani and Rohan. Rihani's potency in the Force could not be hidden, though his parents were reluctant to send him for training. As his latent powers grew, his parents had no choice but to send him away quite early in his life, and Rihani was trained under Echuu Shen-Jon, the same Jedi Master that Rohan trained under later on. Quick and willing to learn, his training passed without any notable problems. He grew into a tall young man, with a level, practical mind and a flair for politics. After his training, he went to Coruscant to be trained in diplomacy and politics. After studying for some time, he chose to disregard politics and pursue diplomacy.

While on Coruscant he received news from Delaya that his mother had died while birthing his brother. He traveled to Delaya, and spoke with his father. The man was inconsolable on the loss of his wife, and hung onto his new son. Rihani sensed that the potential to use the Force lay within Rohan, but he did not have the heart to tell his father to send him away so early as he had been. Working with the Diplomatic Corps. at Coruscant, some few years later, his father sent him a letter about Rohan. He spoke of the child's feyness, describing the same signs he had seen in Rihani years ago. Rihani reluctantly but firmly pressed his father into sending Rohan away to Adega for training. His father refused, but after a year sent him away at the age of three to be trained.

In the following year, his career blossomed, and he became the main choice for many missions. He received word from his father every now and then on how Rohan was developing. It wasn't easy keeping a close eye on his brother's progress and travelling the galaxy settling disputes big and small, but he managed it. A year later, two years into Rohan's training, he received word that his father had died in some sort of accident. He returned to Delaya, and oversaw his father's funeral. As the elder son, he had received most of what money his father had, but he gave it all to a friend for safe-keeping until Rohan came of age.

Years later, Rihani's old master died of an infection. He sent word to Rohan, pressing him to complete his training at Skywalker's academy for Jedi. It took the better part of a year to convince him, but finally Rohan was convinced. Halfway through his training at Yavin, Rihani got his friend to give the money to Rohan. Rohan used the money to buy the Reliance, a Corellian YT-2000 ship.

Just before his capture by the Ne'Kressis, Rohan sent him an urgent message, warning him of the impending attack on Corellia, and a set of coordinates for his ship, drifting with all systems offline near Tatooine. Full of concern, Rihani told the Republic of the attack on Corellia, then rushed to Tatooine. He found Rohan's ship, and brought it back to dock on Tatooine. At first desperate to find Rohan, then realising he was nowhere near, he instead sought information on his last known whereabouts.

He met a Jedi named Yun Sunrunner, who knew Rohan. Yun provided information of the figure known as Dalris, who had apparently showed great interest in Rohan, and tried to kill him more than once. He also met and fell headlong in love with the rock star Illyona Tarek, more generally known as Lady Stardust.

Yun told him of an encounter with Dalris, who told Yun of Rohan's location - on Shakurus, the Gateworld. He did not tell of the planet's location, and Rihani is still tracking down Dalris, believed to be with Black Sun. Yun also informed him that a meeting would be taking place at the Jedi Academy at Yavin, to discuss the Ne'Kressis invasion of the galaxy. After arguing with Illyona over whether or not he should go, he decided that he should, and so he went.

Yun and Rihani left for Yavin on the Reliance, accompanied by Jaret Snomel and Prefekt Dirano. Halfway through their journey, Yun began to have second thoughts about the meeting, and informed Rihani that he would stop at Nar Shaddaa and get a transport back to Tatooine. Upon their arrival, an Eclipse Interdictor and several fighters attacked them - they barely made it out of the system with their lives.

After arriving on Yavin, the planet was attacked by the Ne'Kressis. Many Jedi were killed, but Rihani, along with Yun and Haley Lorian, a young Jedi student Rihani taught some techniques to, survived by way of the Reliance, which itself was saved by the timely arrival of a New Republic fleet. Back on Tatooine, Rihani decided to complete Haley's training.

After some time, Rihani and Illyona decided to live on Naboo, in peace. But Rihani was called before the remaining Jedi, and was appointed their leader. They moved soon after to Coruscant, where a new headquarters for the Jedi is being built. Also, with the news of Illyona's pregnancy, they have decided to stay on Coruscant indefinitely, where they will have a chance to live in peace, fulfilling a promise Rihani made to Illyona a long time ago.
