The message comes through on all frequencies commonly used. The signal is also broadcast to any and all ships within the solar system. Admiral Hunter can be seen standing, with a rather serious expression. A voice can be heard in the background. "Alright Admiral, we're currently broadcasting. We are a go in three, two.." On the unspoken 'one,' Rick takes a deep breath, then begins. "Attention people of Tatooine, this is Admiral Richard Hunter of the United Earth Expeditionary Force. I apologize for the interruption, but this is a planet-wide emergency. Evacuate the Tatooine immediately. A massive invasion force is currently en route to the planet. The Invid, a race of slug-like protoplasmic creatures from the dimension we hail from, have taken an interest in this planet, and intend on turning it into a slave colony. They are estimated to arrive within the next seven days. I implore everyone planet side to proceed to the nearest spaceport and evacuate immediately. Take only what you need to survive, as you may not be able to return to Tatooine for a long time. To any and all space faring vessels receiving this message, do not approach Tatooine, unless you volunteer to either transport refugees, or assist in repelling the Invid. I also call upon the various military and para-military organizations located on or around Tatooine to assist in any way you can. We will need all the help we can get if we are to stop this invasion. We will provide further updates as we receive them. You can reach the United Earth Expeditionary Force by contacting us at our base in Mos Eisley. May God help us all." We also have permission to use the stargate within the New Republic outpost to get evacuees off the planet, the gate will be connected with a gate on Naboo who has graciously agreed to set up camps for the refugees. if you need any help with your evacuations contact the embassy on Olympus at the comm numbers listed below. All USAT forces are to be put on war alert, leaves are cancelled. Any ship that is available is requested by the government to help people wishing to evacuate. for the business minded soul a bounty of credits, valuable resources, or some other form of payment are being considered for each person you bring to a valid evacuation point. When refusing to cease their approach, Starfleet vessels engaged the Invid craft while additional local forces mobilized in a defense. Shortly after the scout craft were destroyed or routed, The invasion bagan in mass force as hundreds of Invid vessels exited inter-steller travel in multiple assualt waved. Defending forces were quickly overwhelmed and took up a screening positiong. Starfleet provided the bulk of forces with fleets consisting of top-of the line dreadnaughts to older support craft. In addition to the intial Federation vessels, A massive Kilrah dreadnaught joined in the fight, hammering at the Invid fleet. Additional defending forces included the Dolmenians, USAT, Kukai, UEEF, and Republic forces. In addition we have reports of Zerg incursions action in coordinated fashion against the invid invaders. Once the defending forces mobilized, the Invid invasion was halted and planetary incursion became less likely as action was held out system. A turning point in the battle occured when UFoP vessels breached the Invid line, led by Federation vessels [i]Bergen[/i] and [i]Artemis[/i], supported by several smaller craft. As the breach was made, the Federation Vessel [i]Wellspring[/i], was able to land a devestating transphasic projectile attack on the Invid Flagship, crippling and then destroying the vessel. The momentary lull was broken as the Invid surged ahead, causing defending vessels to return and regroup at the Terminus line in orbit around Tatooine. Planetary forces engaged Invid dropships slipping through the planetary shield as System forces attempted to hold the line. Another turning point occured when a detachment of the Tragolite Federation's 5th Fleet, led by Grand Admiral Wedge Carter entered Tatooine space,their capital ships began engaging Invid forces while supporting warships plugged holes in the defending forces formations and rounded up defecting Invid spacecraft. Even with the mass of capable warships opposing Invid attempts, it seemed to be a losing battle as attrition took its toll. The battle wasn't decided until, what has been called, The[i]Final Flight of the Pheonix[/i],the infamous Angel Diako sacrificed her being and was reborn into a massively powerful psychic manifestation of a mythical firebird, scrapping the zerg forces, as well as all attacking Invid vessels, wiping out remaining forces. In confirmed reports, the defecting Invid combat vessel was captured by Tragolite Federation forces and current location is unknown. Critics and conspiracy theroists all have their own opinions, as we've seen on the nets, but such things become moot as we examine the extreme display of honor and selflessness exhibited by the defending forces in this battle. Current casualty lists are coming in and the numbers are heartbreaking. Please tune in later in the week for a more indepth, descriptive special on the battle. Throughout the week we will be highlighting the selfless sacrifice of selceted people throughout the defending force, with interviews of the people who knew them best. Putting a human face on the losses last weekend. Let us not become too detached and view losses as numbers, for then war becomes a business and not a last action after failure of diplomacy.
