At roughly 1100 hours Federation Standard Time today, a rogue Imperial Fleet consisting of seven Dreadnaught-class ships and the Imperial Star Destroyer Talon launched an attack on the sovereign forces the Tatooine star system.
According to our sources, the fleet was maintained by Commodore Ariel Pantrakahs, the same Imperial Warlord who's forces have been seen harassing merchant vessels along the Tatooine boarder, as reported by Paxmillion News last week. While it was also reported that Olympus moderated a set of peacekeeping talks between the Commodore and Tatooine Prime Minister James Aries earlier this week, this morning the Commodore brought in an invasion fleet. When Admiral Zon Huntreas, currently in command of the Olympus Four station, attempted to remind the Commodore of the sanctions which both parties agreed to, she demanded the immediate unconditional surrender of all allied vessels and began her attack, using the ships she had placed during the previous set of negotiations as a 'decoy' fleet which simply launched attack craft towards the planet while the Federation fleet was caught outnumbered against her main forces.
Thankfully, the SMS Ship Durandal was joined by several ships from the Star Kingdom of Dolmineus, along with Starfleet vessels stationed in Orbit and were able to repel the Imperial landing parties, although the Dolmineans have reported heavy casualties.
The main Imperial fleet then appeared to switch tactics and begin an all-out assault on the Olympus Four station, located at the edge of the Tatooine system in neutral space. According to our reporters onboard the station, the Admiral was able to regroup the Starfleet vessels and in what is already being called the Second Battle of Olympus, the combined fleet managed to drive off the enemy Dreadnaughts. While Olympus has yet to release a full casualty list, we at the FNS have uncomfirmed reports of at least two Starfleet ships being lost during the fighting, with another three severely damaged.
Just this in! We have reports that Admiral Huntreas' flagship, the Artemis, personally sunk Commodore Pantrakahs ISD Talon, although it appears that the commodore herself may have escaped into hyperspace after the Admiral demanded her unconditional surrender.
Our thoughts go out to the crews all of the allied vessels lost during this senseless attack. We will bring you further news when it arrives. |
