The Gorn are a race developed on the largest Class-M planet in the known galaxy. Most other bipedal races find the atmosphere thin, the heat more intense than Vulcan, and the gravity hard to cope with. This has turned the Gorn into one of the most capable warriors in the galaxy, even Klingons fearing hand-to-hand combat with a Gorn warrior.
The Gorn are considered reptillian although many of thier traits are insectoid and mammalian. They have compound eyes placed on the sides of thier head making thier visiblity range nearly 360 Degrees.
Also, unlike most other reptiles, they have full bioenergy status with outside temperature anywhere from 35 Degrees to 95 Degrees Celsius, but only change bioenergy levels beyond that. While this is still classified as cold-blooded, thier metabolic system is completely unique.
Another interesting fact was that before the first Gorn autopsy (logged Stardate 41263.3) it was belived that Gorn communicated with spoken language along with pheremones from what appeared to be a massive Oal Factory Gland in the sides of the head, but it was discovered that it was actually empathic brain tissue that alowed for a small amount of telepathic ability.
The gorn developed into three races with unique traits: The broad-shouldered Green-Skins, the spiky-headed Yellow-Skins, and the meek looking but agile Brown-Skins. the green-Skins are the majority of the populace.
The Gorn, like many other reptiles, are highly agressive and territorial. They feel thretaned easily and have massacred hundreds of Ferengi, Cardassian, and Federation citizens in territorial disputes that would seem inconsiquential to most other governments. They have a religion based on this belief:
"THE WEAK MUST BE CONQUERED. THE WEAK MUST BE DEFEATED"

GORN CULTURE AND POLITICS:
The Gorn have a fixation on personal strength. Until the alliance with the Federation, the Gorn were divided into a warrior caste system. The system was divded into family crests and those crests were divided into base shapes. the more perfect the shape, the higher the ranking:
WARRIORS: Square
POLITICIANS: Triangle
RULER: Circle
The Gorn were originally an Empire ruled by an Emperor and a host of politicians. They had a generational caste for the Emperor which was incubated in the main hall. The Politicans were elected, but only with a selection from the caste. The Warriors are all people who don't fall into either of the other categories.
Warriors have sub-divisons: Royal Warriors, Honorable Warriors, and Grunt Warriors. Within these divisions, the warriors are allowed to advance but cannot go past Royal Warriors. Royal Warriors hold titles such as General and Captain in the millitary ranks. Honorable Warriors are distinguished by handmade armor and dress, and a special dagger formed from the shinbone of a dead enemy. Grunt Warriors are commanded for duty when nessicary and generally have other professions like Merchant or Ironsmith. They perform Engineering duties and scientific work, but the specialized ones with achievemnt in the sciences are generally premoted to Honorable Warriors.
The Gorn don't bury or incenerate the deceased like most other cultures, but instead strip the body of flesh and organs (which are stewed and eaten so as to preserve the experience and skill) and the skeleton is dressed in the finest garments and preserved in the family hall.
The Gorn military is divided into three divisions: Star Forces, Technological Assault Team, and Ground Battle Forces. The star Forces command space assaults from Starships and generally transport the Technological Assault Teams and Ground Battle Forces to combat points where the Technological Assault Teams command the planetary skies in atmospheric assault cruisers and the land in battle tanks and assault vehicles. The Ground Battle Forces are comprised of specially-trained hand-to-hand combat warriors who board enemy ships and assault bases.
The Gorn find it amoral to assault a people who's faces they never see.
Shortly after the rise of the fourteenth Emperor of Gorn, raised by the federation, he was overthrown by the Democratic Republic that called themselves the Gorn Confederate Republic. Stil following the Caste System, however, the Republic now allows for transgression of castes, so that one who was formerly obliged to be a warrior could now become a ruler and vice-versa. But the person in question must have invitation to a crest who supports that caste.
