[Delete] | Late tonight, we were informed that the North Pole Base- -the giant, monolithic structure that the PAF called home to their defense fleets, a giant tower surrounded by a sprawling city...was anihilated. Officials have been led to the believe that the city of just over one million inhabitants was snuffed out do to an orbital nuclear assault. There were no survivors, safe for a few officers who had been schedualed to leave just prior to the assault. The culprets are for the moment, unknown, and at large, though recent events have put the Dread Conglomerate into suspect. |

It is with a heavy heart that I hear this news. Myself and all the members of the cabinet and the PLANT Allied Council are still reeling from these events.
I am not at liberty to say which parties we suspect were involved. But justice will be done- -I promise the survivors of the PAF fleet that.
We are interviewing the survivors, those who escaped the blast by sheer luck, and they have confirmed that it was indeed a nuclear assault of some kind, of an incredible magnitude, similiar to the "dustbuster" missiles of the Dread Conglomerate. *He frowns at that.*
Regardless...I would like to extend my sympathies to the familes of those who were killed in this senseless attack.
*Strong glare...he's shocked and saddened, and it shows. But he doesn't crack.*
I would like to now call for a moment of silence, in respect for the dead.

We are in the midst of a crisis of unparalleled magnitude, of death on a scale not seen since the Galactic Civil War. And it has been brought to our doorstep, here, at the heart of the outer rim. We need to choose now, for solidarity, for unification...we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves. We need to stand, for all people, on the rim, and inside it, against atrocities such as this!
Will Mos Eisley be next? I promise you, that we will do what we can to find who did this- -and we will stop them! This attack was unwarrented, against civilians, in an effort to scare our forces from helping this planet, and crippling them! But we will not back down in this hour of need.

The Imperial Remnant would like to extend its condolences in this time of crisis. The Assault on the North Polar Base is as despicable as it is devistating. Over one million lives were snuffed out in a singular strike, one singular blow. Even as we speak the Imperial Remnant has sent crews to this disaster to attempt and rescue or help any survivors and to assist in the investigation.
There are many questions that need to be answered in the wake of this strike. How did the attack happen? What was the deployment method? How did forces manage to slip past the NR/IR security net? Was this, infact, an air strike or a ground strike. And most important Who is responsable for this action. While it is believed this was a Nuclear attack, the choice weapon of the Dread Conglomerate, we can not jump to conclusions here. I would have hoped the DC had backed down and decided against any further strikes on this planet.
Once again I plead with the people of Tatooine to gather as one to repel these attacks. The IR/NR alliance is here to help you defend yourselves from strikes like this. The people of Tatooine need to stop thing of themselves as Residence of a City or County and need to identify themselves as citizens of a Planet and a System. I have said it many times before in the past and I will say it again, This planet will not survive if all the peoples do not band together to make a strong commitment to security and safety.
In closing I would once again expend my heart felt condolences to the PAF, the citizens of the North Polar Base and all the families that have been effected by this attack. May the Force be with you all.

New Republic Offical Statement

[Delete] | The New Republic offers its condolences to the people and government of the PAF. as always the New Republic places its resources at the request of the PAF should they require any assitance in clean ups or rebuilding. Tanos, home of the Farpoint Tatooine Fleet is also aviaible shoudl they wish to keep ships stationed closed to Tatooine and aid in the planets orbital defences. |
