Senate in uproar over unexpected Olympus session
Barely opened the new Olympus 4 station is already drawing massive criticisms and cries out outrage from the New Republic senate over an unexpected voting session that took place during its opening ceremonies. During those opening ceremonies in which a number of factions including the Peacekeepers were invited, a freedom fighter known as Ghost, and Skrellnik the hutt both challenged the station to make its first vote over the legality of the Hutts claim on the planet Tatooine. ultimately in a vote of 3 against, 0 for and 1 Abstaining, the hutt claim on the planet was denied. The news was quickly relayed to the Senate where protests and vicious arguments broke out.
*Footage of a senator shouting "We have been trampled on, this new alliance, eager to show itself has gone over our head to make a decision we have not agreed on and cannot agree with!" the camera zooms to Admiral Parks, at a guest podium, as he had been there and be part of the voting parties "You have not been 'trampled over' senator. you had no jurisdiction to begin with, the planet was not ours, nor had the hutts brought the vote to us to settle. The hutts themselves wanted this vote, they helped push for it to happen, and must now accept the action. we must as well, for though I abstained as I had no authority to vote otherwise, we were outvoted by our allies." Another senator gets to his feet "Our Allies should have conferred with us as well, we deserve to be heard, we are the majority of this galaxy our voice must be heard." The Admiral just kinda gives him a tough luck smirk "Senator, we at one point were the sole major power, in the past it was the Old Republic, but now we are in a age where we must work with other groups or risk major defeat. It was this senate who decided that we should let these friends of our handle the outterrim, so we can focus on our own people, and now they have, only they voted in a way you don't like. you cant have it both way senators, its time to realize, your no longer the sole powers in this galaxy, or the universe for that matter" That touches off a roar both for and against and the feed cuts.*

Coruscant Stargate Station opens
In another, much quieter ceremony Chief of State Elayne Kavos official opened the new station encompassing the Supergate and the re-located stargate of Coruscant. The station was official named the Coruscant Stargate Station, but is mostly known as Kavos's Folly, after the fact that the supergate currently has no known similar gate to connect to. though the Chief of state is confident that the Federation or some other ally will follow and build their own gate, its been a tough issue for her, one that's seen her approval dip over what many see as an expensive waste. the station so far survives as a major retail and trade station, but many assume that once very little trade trickles through the gate, these stores will move off. after the ceremony however we were able to get a brief remark from the Chief of State regarding the Olympus 4 decision
*Elayne Kavos stands before the camera "We agreed with our allies that this was a chance for us to work together, to build a relationship we need to thrive and grow, we had a Representative, and we will honor the vote, we cannot threaten to withdraw every time we do not get a decision we don't agree with. as it is the senate isnt even agreed on if we agree with this decision or not. so either way half of us has what we want, we will not be withdrawing."*
