WE INTERUPT EVERYBODY LOVES HYPNOTOAD FOR THIS BREAKING NEWS: WE ARE LIVE WITH MORBO AND THE CHANNEL XERGLOC NEWS TEAM:

TRAGEDY STRUCK AS HORRIBLE INSECTOIDS BEAT MY RACE TO POUNDING YOUR SOFT PUNY FLESH INTO GOO!
*Calmer* An insectoid race led by the creature local smugglers have dubbed the Queen of Blades, launched an all out assault last night on tatooine. At the same time a freak storm tore through mos eisley. We estimate the death toll in the thousands and are still sifting through the rubble. Tatooine defense forces as well as ships from starfleet valiantly defended the planet but were horribly outmatched. Only the intervention of a new starfleet weapon was able to eradicate these pests. But now the people of tatooine have questions.......can this apparent super weapon be turned onto beings other than these insectoids? Is the defense forces or starfleet looking to become the next empire with their new weapon? What happened to the queen of blades? And most importantly...
WILL THIS WEAPON AFFECT MORBOS INVASION OF YOUR PITIFUL PLANET?!
Now back to Ollie with the Black-u-weather report!
Ollie?
{IT GONE SAND STORM}
Thank you ollie.
This is morbo saying goodnight......AND GOODLUCK WHEN WE SUCK THE MARROW OUT OF YOUR FRAGILE CRUNCHY BONES.

Federation News Service 5:45pm, June 30, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | To follow up our top story this hour: Tatooine attacked! Following on the heels of last week's attempted Imperial invasion, Starfleet forces from the Olympus Four station have confirmed that last night the alien race known only as the Zerg have attacked the planet Tatooine. It appears that the city of Mos Eisley was hit the worst, as the attack occured moments after a freak sandstorm caused severe damage to the city's infrastructure. There's also confirmed reports of the Zerg boarding the Olympus Four station and several other outposts along the planetary system.
We would also like to state that Morbo from Xergloc News claimed that the Zerg were driven off by an unknown Starfleet weapon, which we can now report that Starfleet has catagorically denied. According to our contacts on Olympus, the victory was caused by an unknown alien being which interfered on behalf of the people of Tatooine. Little else is known at this point, but Admiral Huntreas of Olympus Four is expected to make a press release regarding the situation later today.
We have just gotten word that two ships have left from the Federation Protectorate with relief aid destined for Tatooine, and another two are due to arrive from the Alpha Quadrant within the hour. |
| Statement from the scene |
Admiral Zon Huntreas 8:30pm, June 30, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | *Zon steps up to a Podium. The room behind him looks a bit patchwork.* As Starfleet was on the scene during this entire incident I would like to take this time to clear up a few points.
The entity which the Xergloc Team reported as the "Queen of Blades" is thought to be a kind of host-entity for the alien race known as the Zerg. This Queen functions for them in a similar way the Borg Queen controls the Collective. The Queen of Blades did in fact appear on Tatooine last night in an attempt to assimilate this planet. Starfleet was notified almost immediately by an off-duty officer, Lieutenant Kryek, who is still missing as of this hour, as well as Director Kiyoshi of the Kukai Foundation, who was also at ground zero.
Shortly thereafter, the Zerg began to launch a full scale attack both via orbital bombardment and via a type of subspace portal network which linked them directly to their targets--Tatooine, Mos Eisley in particular, and then later the Olympus Four station.
I would like to take a moment to recognize the valiant efforts of the RDF Pioneer and her commanding officer, Admiral Rick Hunter. While Starfleet and USAT Navy forces were heavily outnumbered, the Robotech Defense Force joined the fray without hesitation, a fact which was left unreported in earlier news. If it wasn't for their courage none of us would have likely survived.
There is a bright sign on the horizon. The worlds of Ord Mantell, Gingham Five, Carryyk, Yantooine, and dozens of other worlds which have been taken by the Zerg have been freed of their infestation.
*He pauses as there's murmors and gasps and such at the news. He brings up a number of holographic images, showing some Zerg corpses, but mostly that same goo that is coating Mos Eisley.*
Images being shown have been collected from Starfleet vessels across the Galaxy. The images here were taken by the U.S.S. Wayfarer, and as you can see, Ord Mantell is now completely clear of the Zerg. All that has been left behind appear to be this opaque biomimetic gel. While we no longer have the services of our chief scientific officer here at Olympus, our studies have concluded this to be inert biomatter with every protein chain and organic molecule collapsed, every Zerg entity disintigrated down to their very DNA. Even the neuralytic peptides which characterized the Zerg hive mind connection across their Hydralisk drones have lost all cohesion.
While I am sure that a weapon of such magnitude would be enough to deter the Empire, I am afraid that I must clarify that this was not the act of some monsterous new biogenic weapon developed by Starfleet. This was, according to our reports, the act of an ancient, powerful, alien organism which we had previously encountered on stardate 62142.9 and again on Stardate 64597.8, as well as even at the turn of the year, all around the planet Tatooine.
Details are sketchy but it appears that during the resulting melee those engaged in direct combat with the Queen of Blades were able to use the Zerg's telepathic hive mind to contact this entity, known in legend as the Phoenix. This creature did not, as it would appear, seem to care for the Zerg. So it wiped them out, throughout the galaxy. *The holo changes.* As you can see here, this 'fire in space' appears to drift harmlessly past the U.S.S. Grissom and the RDF Pioneer, only to demolcularize the three remaining assimilated Star Destroyers. I know some of you in the crowd are already referring to this as a miracle, same as the Bajoran Prophets 'interferance' during the Dominion War, but this may simply be the case of a powerful, alien entity lashing out at another. While I was not at the scene I do not expect that the Queen of Blades survived this incident.
However, we do not yet have any confirmed reports that the Zerg Hive World, located at edge of the Arkanis Sector, was annihilated by the Phoenix Force. Preliminary reports, do, however, suggest that while the Hive World was attacked, it was not wiped out and I fully intend to call an immediate Olympus Council meeting in order to discuss what can be done to rid this galaxy of the Zerg once and for all.
Thank you for your time.

Rick Hunter 3:04am, July 01, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | *Admiral Hunter is sitting behind his desk as the camera team begins shooting*
Good evening, people of Tatooine. I am Admiral Richard A. Hunter, the commanding officer of the United Earth Expeditionary Force's flagship, the Super-Dimension Fortress 3 Pioneer.
Starting today, the UEEF has been assisting the Tri-city Alliance in repairing and rebuilding the devastation caused by the Zerg attack. Temporary shelters have been erected, and our ground forces are passing out food and medical supplies to the survivors.
Like many people, we are not native to this dimension. The Pioneer was caught in a dimensional rift, and was brought here. Although we have been attempting to stay out of Tatooine's affairs, we have begun to look upon this world as our second home.
While we are still looking for a way home, we stand committed to the defence and well-being of all of Tatooine's peoples. We eagerly look forward to working with you to help make your world a safer place.

James Aries 9:03am, July 01, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | Theres no video feed for this one, instead a list of casualties slowly rolling up the holo feed to accompany his speech. "What is there really left to say, we won a battle but to many the battle is hollow. Its rather difficult to celebrate when we bury a town, bury neighbors, friends... family. We face continuing battles in the days ahead, the threat from the Imperial invaders may not be over, the Zerg are not necessarily conquered and that's just two of any number of possibilities.
But for now, for today maybe for this week we should focus on one thing our heroes. Every person of every faction in this system shifting through debris right now deserves a thank you. Every soldier serving on every ship that was in that battle deserves more than that, every soldier who lost his life to protect those who they didnt even know, and in some cases who hated and resented their presence in the system in the first place, they deserve everything.
Anyone hurt or homeless or just lost there is help out there. dont hesitate, search teams from every major faction seem to be shifting through the rubble, erecting shelters and providing aid. Theres massive amounts of bacta, kolta and even a number of Jedi healers on the planet looking to help, and if your wounds are physical, there are ears to talk to shoulders to cry on.
Soldiers of SNAFU and the USAT Militia, if anyone needs immediate leave it will be given no questions asked. Those who remain on duty are needed for continued clean up and support operations." |
