It has come to our attention that four nights ago, the planet of Ord Mantell was attacked by an unknown alien race. We have gotten multiple confirmed reports of fleets of refugees fleeing the so-called "Heart of the Bright Jewel" and traveling to nearby worlds in the wake of this terrible tragedy.

The invaders, judging by the information we have been able to find, are a race unknown to us here at the Galactic Free Press. They seem to be entirely organic in origin, using no technology to speak of, and they are incredibly aggressive. There are reports of these aliens swarming over cities like locusts devouring everything in their path. Rumor has it that there have been several similar attacks throughout the Outer Rim, although Ord Mantell is the first planet which has reached out news outlet.

Ord Mantell is a junk yard world, known for its amusing diversions for travelers on long space journeys coming in and out of the Mid Rim. Why the aliens would attack such an inconseqeuential world is unknown at this time.

Several of the refugees we have interviewed have stated that there were several 'unknown fleets' of starships who attempted to repel the invaders, but as of yet no one has come forth regarding the defense of Ord Mantell. Likewise, the invaders themselves have not yet bothered to issue a statement in regards to their desires or identity; judging by Ord Mantell, they seem to merely arrive...and devour.

We will keep this channel open for any new developments in regards to this terrifying new threat to galactic peace.
