[Delete] | Reports carried by private ships have brought news of an attack on the Expansion Area planetary system named Saroya. Early yesterday afternoon, a full scale internal attack was launched by revolutionary troops of the Southern Kingdom. News would have broken earlier, but first hand accounts tell us that all but one of the planet's subspace transmitters were destroyed in the beginning of the attack.
First news of the assault came when a prerecorded message was received by multiple popular news agencies across the galaxy. These video's were mostly stock footage of the planet's ancient monuments accompanied by a voice over. Experts say the footage and the voice overs indicate a large scale, long term plan set into motion by a financially able group.
A deep, accented voice speaks in Galactic Basic, "The Planet of Saroya is not unified, no matter what anyone would say. Our Southern traditions are under attack everyday while the Northern powers have cemented their rule, insisting on a 'unification of people and thoughts'. They have invited foreign agents and creatures to come and challenge our ancient law and rights. Thankfully, there are many in the north who agree, they will be part of the reckoning that is coming. The purge of non-saroyan ideals and people. As of noon fall today, the planet of Saroya is no longer a unified planet led by a false queen. Fighting will continue unless the loyalists drop their weapons and peacefully return to the Saroyan way of life. We have control of all major systems, communications, power, defenses. There is no escape from Saroya. Our Planetary defense cannons will shoot down anyone who attempts to invade, or escape. This purge is not an attack on outsiders, or a genocidal event. All off worlders who wish to leave the planet safely have the opportunity to do so. 2 Planetary centers have been set up for evacuation, in the city of Tsuki-Taiyou in the north and the Southern city of Bask'uu. There is a grace period on private travel for 36 hours, free movement is allowed by non military vessels to these centers, and marked passenger ships will be allowed to take off from these spaceports without harassment. Saroyans are not allowed to leave their home. The people of Saroya and the galaxy should turn aside their hope the royal family is alive. The Queen and Prince are dead, the royal family captured or killed for the crimes of their parents. All hail King Taiyou of Saroya!"
Confirmation has been made by private vessels traveling to and from Saroya as the remnants of the Saroyan defense fleet have waved off attempts to approach the planet and turned arrivals away. The Republic, the Hutt Cartel, and the Tragolite Federation have so far released warnings t their citizens that Saroya is undergoing civil strife and travel should not be attempted.

[Delete] | More news in from Saroya today. all information is coming from correspondents awaiting travel off of the planet. Saroya is under complete control of the Southern forces except for some holdout fortresses and the Old Northern Palace. As said by the new overlords, there have been two evacuation centers set up on the planet, one in the north and one in the south. Footage coming in shows hard treatment, but no abuse from the Saroyan forces. Their goal seems to be to remove all foreign influence from the planet as soon as possible, this is in accordance with what officials have said, reminding non Saroyans that the clock is counting down. In an attempt to help, 3 cruise liners have pulled into orbit from local systems to onload as many people as possible. Freelancing passenger ships and freighters have arrived too, keeping the space around the planet cluttered, there have been reported collisions and at least one vessel was destroyed and burnt up on a crash re-entry into the atmosphere. Officials state that the current problem is transport to the vessels in orbit.
Foreboding news has come in that the orbital and system defense arrays have been taken by Southern Saroyan troops, wrestling the mountain complexes away from Crown loyalist forces and activating the systems. Already a private mercenary frigate has been destroyed when they refused to return out system and jump away. We have contacted the mercenary force and were given a release that said the mercs had accepted a contract to extradite a wealthy Bith merchant from the South. The Southern Saroyan's have reiterated that military ships are not allowed to approach the planet without permission and even then, will be engaged if weapons or shields are powered up. The deadly and formidable intra-system defense arrays compliment a planet wide system of orbital defense cannons that spread across Saroya.
Harsh words accompanied a release by an official in the new government today, "Everyone left on planet after the timer expires will be herded to holding facilities untila time when their release is deemed to not be a security risk for the planet. A later date when the planet is once again united under the Taiyou line, when arrangements will be made with their governments to return them home, until then any attempts to retrieve these people will be considered and act of war. Saroya may be one planet with a small navy, but we have allies with mighty warships and galaxy-wide access that have pledged to strike anyone who attempts to intervene in this war, a war between Saroyan people. This does not concern anyone else!"
More news as it comes. The timer is counting down until the planet is cut off from outside access. 24 hours remain. |

[Delete] | We're continuing our coverage of the civil war on Saroya with new information as it comes. The timer has counted down and the planet has declared itself off limits without explicit permission. We've received word from on the scene evacuees that made it out with the last wave. Before covering more of these stories we have more coverage on the situation in orbit. True to their word, at the end of the allotted time, the Saroyan Navy locked down approaches to the planet. Multiple ships pleaded for additional time to leave the planet and in an unexpected turn of events, were allowed to take on full compliment before taking off. However, there have been 7 reported incidents of destruction since the allotted time lapsed. 4 Civilian passenger ships, 2 freighters, and a private Yacht. All of the vessels save the yacht were attempting to run the blockade and land on the planet.
We have received an exclusive interview with a Mon Calamar diplomat who was on the last ship allowed to leave the planet and his account is a bit chilling and leaves concern. "While we waited, I continuously gave my seat away to those who needed it more. I really wanted to use my sway to try and keep the calm. The Southern refugee center was under guard by uniformed Saroyan troops loyal to the King. They kept things orderly and safe, for us. We were concerned as the time counted down that not enough transports would arrive to get us off the planet. More concerning were the growing crowds outside the fences, locals and militia groups were arriving armed with weaponry ranging from blasters to make shift weapons. The guards saw it too and you could tell they were getting nervous. The outside crowds became rowdy and several attacks were made on the walls of the compound. Once we took off, they guard fled, leaving the remaining refugees to fend for themselves..I know not what happened but I can guarantee it wasn't good."
There you have an account of the last moments on Saroya. We have received word from unknown sources that the southern refugee center was the sight of terrible violence before a company of Loyalist special forces arrived and rescued 36 from the crowd. Officials in the governing force have released a statement blaming pro-extremist forces for the slaughter. In the north, all remaining refugees have been taken into protective custody by Uniformed Saroyan Defense forces.
In serious news, the Saroyan government has released information that genetic evidence of the demise of the Old Queen, Saroya Asher-Adair, and Prince Consort Adair was found in the ruins of the Palace in Tsuki-Taiyou. Several Saroyan officials mourned the loss of a native son of Saroya and the Monarch who led before. A procession will be held as is tradition and their remains interred in the north. The announcement is expected to serve a blow to the loyalists forces. With no free heiress to take the throne, the cause of the Unified Saroyan Government seems to be lost. Resistance is expected to drop off in the coming months. |

[Delete] | Tensions have risen once again between the Tragolite Federation and the Galactic Republic, border disputes have been brought to the attention of the Senate by a Federate envoy. The regions in question are in the galactic west, near the unknown regions. Tragolite Federation officials claim they have survey maps dating from before the creation of the Republic and such mineral maps give claim, the Senate has vowed to debate the issue but undisclosed sources scoff at the claims saying "Artifact maps found in who knows what ancient ruin or Czerka wreck do not constitute a physical claim." Tragolite diplomats are offended by the statement mentioning these maps are Tragolite surveyed. A representative of the Jedi council has called for cool heads to prevail and both sides come to the negotiation table instead of bearing guns. More to come as the information comes out.
The Saroyan government has answered claims that unidentified ships broke through the blockade of the Saroyan planet to give aid to the besieged Saroyan loyalists. They said that another group of ships has yet again been destroyed by their defenses and the aid of the Capsuleer Mercenary Exchange. Holonet searches turn up very little information on this mercenary company, but some conspiracy theorists have called this group responsible for the death of King Tristan and the raid on the Planet of Saroya last year. More statements... Excuse me, something is coming across the line.
We have just received word that the Loyalists have bypassed the Saroyan Forces quarantine of their planet. They have a working hyper-communication transceiver and Princess Miyako Adair is sending out a press release. "Yesterday our effort to liberate Saroya from this illegal, brutish regime came to a head as friend from off world landed supplies and military advisers on our planet. In a stunning show of self-sacrifice, a well armed capital ship braved the decimating fires of the orbital defense capabilities of the illegal Saroyan government, buying precious time for a small fleet of volunteer freighters and smugglers to make a run at the planetary defense grid, braving the incoming deadly fire to land on planet. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten and songs will be sung in their honor when this war is over. We now have control over our own communications and the planet and the galaxy can hear the righteous voice of the loyalist forces fighting in memory of my mothers Saroya, a unified planet seeking peace and understanding. It is my wish that the Saroyan people will hear my words and the Saroyan occupation forces will lay down their arms in the name of peace, because we will not go quietly." |

[Delete] | Breaking news for those following the Saroyan revolution, verified independent reports have been received pertaining to the system and it's continuing civil war. Last night, the Capsuleer Mercenary forces and the Saroyan government came under assault by the Tragolite Federation 5th fleet under the command of Grand Admiral Colin Hackett.
In conjunction with the fleet assault a complete invasion package was landed across Saroya in the beginning stages of an attack to liberate the planet and return control to Queen Saroya Asher-Adair.
A play by play sequence of events has been revealed by long range reconnaissance relays. A four wave attack was carried out utilizing fold space coordination in conjunction with planet side attacks on defense command facilities. The initial wave of the fleet was a super capital insertion, A Leviathan-Class Titan and several dreadnaughts accompanied by 2 Nyx-Class Supercarriers leaped into far orbit around the planet and immediately began their attack on the planets orbital defense array. The defending fleet was caught unaware by the Federate insertion and were slow to respond, giving the 2nd wave of the federate fleet time to enter they system and engage the bulk of the Capsuleer forces. A pitched battle resulted as the large capital ship fleets clashed supported on either side by specialized cruisers. As the third wave entered system, the combined frigate and destroyer floatillas begand bombing runs on the clustered, slowly forming Capsuleers. The fleet battle continued until ground side Unified Saroyan loyalists backed by Federate advisors were able to take down the cross-planet command facilities, rendering the orbital defense array inoperative and allowing for the final invasion wave to enter the system. The fourth wave consisting of troops transports and destroyer screen escorts made their runs on the planet as the fleet battle pitched, making cross-planet drops, the invasion package was dropped, attempting to avoid ground fire and discharge their troops on the planet.
Today, battle raged across Saroya as Federate forces fought to gain ground against defending Saroyan forces. gains in the south were initially sucessful before logistics support grinded their advance down to a crawl. Air support was non existent as Southern Saroyan forces kept the air capitalizing on the fleet battle over the planet and harassed attempts by Federate forces to establish a beachhead for planet based fighters and bombers. In the north, Saroyan forces used effective weapons and tactics to keep bombers on the ground. ground forces continued an easy advance toward the former capital, surrounding it in the pre-dawn hours, cutting off reinforcements and supplies to the city. High General Kezie led forces agaisnt the city, pinpointing light orbital and ground based artillery and pushing Saroyan forces back toward their fortified complex built over the ruins of the old Palace. During this time, Tragolite forces encouraged civilian flight from the city to clear them for the incoming assault. Today, suddenly, the strike came and while combined forces moved into the city from the hills to the east, to High General Kezie's code word "Bring Down the Sky" an orbital bombardment was conducted by a Revelation-Class Dreadnaught, turning the fortified complex into a smoking crater, destroying Southern Saroyan resistance in the city. As Federate and loyalist forces moved into the city, Saroyan troops surrendered. Queen Asher-Adair, landed earlier, made an impassioned speech to her people and the loyalist forces fighting the Saroyan oppressors urging them to continue to fight, she even invoked the new battlecry of the Saroyan resistance.
With the North fallen under Tragolite Federation control and the queen returned to her city, resistance has begun to spring up in Saroyan controlled cities near the border and more progressive areas in the South. After the Queen's speech was transmitted on all frequencies and channels, partisans and activists took to the streets in the south, attacking collaborating security forces and southern Saroyan troops with tear gas, glass bottles, and rocks, among the more deadly attacks reported in Pli'cau, where reports mention an armed attack on a police armory resulting in many deaths for both sides after the situation escalated to a block war. Chants of "Bring down the sky" can be heard in the major cities as a return to former rule is called for, the people picking up the verbal banner made popular by the Saroyan Queen. As the battles continue across the planet, a real sense of hope and excitement can be felt as the people look forward to a return to normalcy.
