James Aries 2:32am, November 28, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | USAT Chief of State James Aries
Tonight the UFS has shown their colors and an old enemy returned. They managed to destroy the station Olympus four and nearly took control of our world. Tonight there is a lot of fear from this attack and a lot of anger. I was shaken to see the look of fear and defeat in the normally stoic eyes of the Starfleet officer, but then moved to resolve. what we lost tonight was a symbol, nothing more. Our ideals, beliefs, our very lives still exist. We were hurt, we bleed we weep we cry out for vengeance, but the fact we can do this shows we are still here. Our meeting place might be gone, our unions might feel shaken, but in my mind in my heart it takes more than a simple station to tear me from my commitments.
Right now I pledge I am fully committed to the cause of the Olympus council. of its desire to unite factions peacefully, to allow us to live in harmony and to someday see the end of tyranny such as this. We will bring justice, I will see the UFS leaders stripped of their positions and brought low, Kaelton and his son will not bring another reign of fear into this galaxy, I WILL NOT let the loss of the station shatter my resolve. And I hope it will not shatter yours. as always my deepest regrets go out to the families of lost love ones, of allies who sacrificed their men and women to hold these ideals in a system that sometimes is less than friendly to them, my heart goes out to the USAT soldiers who layed their life down to see their families protected, the families who were mercilessly shelled by unscrupulous UFS forces, those who continue to suffer because of the greed and violence of others. |

Federation News Service 4:56pm, November 28, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | *A blue skinned man with a ridge down his face appears onscreen! He's wearing a tasteful suit but it's more muted tasteful than 24th-century-Ferengi-tasteful, which generally looks like a lumberjack threw up on a clown. ...Anyways. The Bolian does his best Kronkite and looks to the camera.*
Olympus Four has fallen to the United Federation of Systems. In a concentrated attack in concert with a resurgent Dread Conglomerate and the Tragolite Perkins-faction, the enemy fleet attacked the Olympus Four diplomatic station late last evening. Reports are still coming in although it appears that the fighting has stopped for the time being. The UFS used a series of smuggled explosives to cripple the station and then began to attack the Tatooine fleet while the Dread Conglomerate forces arrived and began to blitzkrieg the station.
Olympus Four was, of course known during the previous Peacekeeper, Goa'uld, and Invid conflicts as Starfleet's front-line base in the SW-1138 Galaxy. More than that Olympus was a treaty zone, a diplomatic station dedicated to allowing factions throughout the galaxy a safe place to conduct negotiations, or work out conflicts in a peaceful manner.
...There are also disturbing reports that the Dread Conglomerate, formally lead by the deceased war criminal Ace Kaelton, is being lead his son, Jarit Kaelton, and what would appear to be a large, ten kilometer long warship implanted with his father's mental patterns.
The fighting raged for over two hours before Starfleet forces were forced to abandon the station and evacuate back to Federation space. A number of Starfleet and New Republic Navy vessels stayed behind to cover the retreat of the station's personnel, and later joined ranks with the USAT fleet lead by Tatooine Chief of State James Aries when the enemy forces began to splinter, the Perkins-faction claiming the planet for themselves while attacking UFS Starfleet and Conglomerate forces.
Our thoughts go out to all the brave officers who lost their lives defending the station, and later the planet. Amongst them were Ambassador Xarash Vel zh'Vhozt, who was killed during the initial UFS bombing which signaled the beginning of hostilities, and the crew of the U.S.S. Eternity, a Galaxy-class starship which was destroyed by the Battleship Kaelton. We also have reports that the crew of the Camut were lost when the United Federation of Systems transported biogenic weapons onboard their ship when their shields has faulted. The United Federation of Planet's mirror dopplegangers, the United Federation of System is an alliance between an alternate human and vulcan race, and are well known for their xenophobic culture and their usage of biogenic plague weapons over conventional tactics.
...I'm sorry, I'm getting two new reports. It appears that Starfleet forces have struck a blow into the heart of UFS territory and have, and I quite, "decimated" the UFS shipyards. There will be more on this as it develops. I...also must report that Federation forces have lost all contact with the Outer Rim Republic. It appears that they have fallen to the Dread Conglomerate.
*There's a pause of silence.*
As of this time the FNS has not yet been alerted to the United Federation of Systems or the Dread Conglomerate issuing any formal declaration of war against any of the Olympus Council governments, but this appears academic, for the time being.
We have not yet been able to secure an interview with Admiral Zon Huntreas, former commanding officer of the Olympus Four station.
There will be more on this story as it develops. |
