Trans-Colony/Tatooine News

[Delete] | Earlier in the week we reported that there was a special colony drop report. We are now pleased to bring you the full story, as of so far.
((Yeah, I know there wasn't actually an MB post before this, but...shit man, I was tired!))
As far we can tell, the sequence of events went something like this:
Just after Dusk, a high-yield hyperlaser pierced through the atmosphere, and apparently accounted for a large number of atmospheric distortion and refracted through the stratosphere and targeted the space colony Aztet. This was a standard I-3, open type, and was undergoing repairs to make it fully habitable again, after being damaged in the war. However, part of the colony still had several thousand people inside, and the laser easily reflected off of it's mirrors and ignited through the closed-section and apparently transferred enough energy to ignite the colony's original atomic engines. This act caused the colony to begin to skyrocket towards the planets atmosphere. As you viewers already know, a standard open-type colony has a diameter of 6 kilometers and is roughly 32 kilometers long. This would cause an incredible explosion, that would not only kill all those living and working in the colony, but would also cause a trmendous explosion on the surface of the planet that could threaten a far greater number of people.
While technitions were able to quickly shut off the thrusters of the colony, any attempts to right it's course was destroyed when another laser pulse fired out from the same location, but configured not to transfer power, but to shatter the colony's massive mirror, and cause it to spin out of control. While many of the colony goers were able to evacuate, with no gravity (as the colony's rotation was gone) others found themselves unable to get out of the colony's shelters and make it to the escape cores.
Thankfully, a TCDL Mech Corps officer was able to use the thrust of an enhanced mobile suit to hit the colony at the correct angle and cause it to divert by almost two degrees, which was sufficient to cause it to richochet off of the atmosphere and slingshot into deep space. The cilivian and technitions who were trapped were rescued, with only minor injuries and stresses involving G-Forces.
Whomever attacked the colony and tried to initiate a colony drop is still unknown, and Mech Corps has urged all those in the Tatooine Civil Defense League to remain on high alert. |
