Senate Supporst the Republics actions at Tatooine Jedi Order seeks to gain finantial independance from the Republic Kuat defeats Mrlsst 29-17 in first NeoNuna-Ball Championships Lim New Bill could finally end slavery in the Republic "For years Ryloth has enjoyed a small admenment in its culture, allowing its traditions of slavery to persist, as one of its few exports into the galactic world." Stated Represenative Nadriandur Ryen of Serpindal who has been a growing voice of Discontent with some of the practices running within Republic space with "open approval of the government." The head of a growing number of Senators who question the moral level of the Republic he has stepped forward proposing a bill to end all legal slavery within republic borders, which would mean the stop of the Twi'lek practices, and the emancipation of all existing twi'leks. "It is time for the Twi'leks to find a new export and to remove this blemish of morally questionable practices from our Republic, before it encurages further undermining of what was fought for during the Rebellion." Represenative Amaya Aah'valia of Twi'lek quickly fired back stating, "The practices our culture has developed in its long history with selling of our children is not morally questionable, these children allow our people to surive, our planet has very little in the way of natural resources or products, and it is only through these customs that we can avoid our desent into some 3rd world backwater slum" At the end of the day however the senate had a 89.6% approval for the new bill, but only a paultry 17.9% supported an addition that would create facilities that would help Ryloth continue making money while training their children productive skills and abilities that would make them assets to the galaxy at large. Senators Support the Republics presence on Tatooine After what appears to have been two seperate attacks, one by an unkown group known as "Reavers" and an unkown faciton that is belived to be a possible Imperial Remenant group on the desert world of Tatooine, The Tatooine Farpointfleet, Commanded by Admiral Steve Parks, responded to calls of aid, landing several medical teams and thousands of tons of supplies onto the surface, while providing a deterance to further attackers with its increased sweep of local space. "We did the right thing, responding to their call of aid, even though they are not memebers of the Republic, they are still living sentient beings. Our medical teams are now saving lives that would have been lost, helping families who suffered during these two attacks. However our presense there is tolerated at best, and it woudl be wise for us to withdrawl before our welcome becomes withdrawn, and our soldiers become targets for attacks" Represenative Juroden Rowan of Cerea both praised and warned. the senate has nearly unanimously commended both Admiral Parks for his actions and Cheif of State Tassimek for giving the Admiral leave to "Stay untill the Job is done". Jedi Order seeking funding to open new business and create finantually independant operations Master Skywalker has spent the last week on Coruscant, constantly lobbying with both senators and business executives, pointing out how a jedi order with an independant source of income, would not only free up more of the republics budget for other purposes, but in time could create new jobs, new tax revinues, and ultimatly aid the republic from another standpoint. though many seem reluctant to back this new venture, most everyone supports it, many people think of the Jedi order as an 'archaic' religious group with little to offer the common citizen. Though the few that have seen a Jedi in real live can attest to their viability, they also agree that a Jedi Order that wasnt reliant on Republic funding would be a great aid to the citizens, and by having less of a tie to the Republic could allow the jedi to possibly flurish into other parts of the galaxy such as the Imperial Remenant or the Corporate sector, offering a non-biased resultion to conflicts there. Skywalker also talked about expanding the order. Yavin is isolated and hard for families to remain intact, with small job opportunities families are usually split. With the Restoration of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant this split can be allivated some, but Master Skywalker belives that Jedi owned corporations could offer jobs to those with children or relatives within the order, and opening facilities on Datooine and possibly Corellia would allow for the small number of Jedi to locate more potentials offer more areas for training reducing the voulnerability of the order. Lando Calrissian was the first to step forward and vows to help oversee the Jedi ran corporations and ensure they grow to the levels needed to sucesfully gain finantial freedom. Kuat defeats Mrlsst 29-17 in first NeoNuna-Ball Championships In the first seasion of NeoNuna-Ball Kuat went on to beat Mrlsst 29-17. Though Mrlsst started off strong, they faltered through the second half and Kuat ultimatly dominated to win. NeoNuna-Ball is an updated of the classic Nuna-Ball game which suffered during the Civil War. replacing the live Nuna with an ovaloid ball, and banning droid teams in favor of living players, the NeoNuna-Ball League hopes to fill a void from the decline of most sports due to the wars. They are not without some competition, as a new sport known as Galactic ball is starting to rise. Taken from a Federation game known as Baseball, with a few tweaks and rule changes, Galactic ball has started to become popular, and talks around the reamergance of the Limmie leagues threant to fight NeoNuna-ball for fans.
