Chinese Elemental Alignment, Earth: While Xifeng has no powers of manipulation or creation of the element earth, being aligned with it has given her other minor abilities and quirks. It heavily influences her personality and gives her the desire to walk around barefoot. It also gives her the ability to calm those around her, to instill a sense of peace, balance, and harmony in them.

She has begun experimenting with the "chi metal" and has found that with the metal, if she meditates, her calming aura increases strength to the point of causing those near her to relax to the point of falling asleep. It also allows her to tell where things around her are if they are sitting on the ground if she meditates and stabs the metal into the ground.

Earth is created by fire, so being around those aligned to fire makes her feel a bit stronger. In turn, earth generates metal, so she lends strength to those aligned to that element.

Earth is strong against water, so those aligned to such would feel weaker or uneasy around her, but her calming abilities tend to even things out. On the flip side, earth is weak against wood, so she feels a bit uneasy and off balance around people who are aligned to wood.

Xifeng was born in the original country that the people of Xenshi come from to a noble family. She grew up alongside of Yan Huiqing and though there were a few years between the two, they became close friends. They enjoyed running around together doing silly things, especially playing pranks on and teasing Huiqing's younger brother. The two girls had a budding childhood romance as well that was mostly innocent snuggling, but it was cut short by fate as the two were tugged apart by the places in life that they were chosen for. Huiqing promised to never leave Xifeng's side despite it, and has been true to her word.

Xifeng was raised to be a nobleman's wife, learning how to be a proper hostess, even learning to correctly speak the common language with very little accent, quite a prized achievement. Quite soon, her natural grace and calming abilities were noticed by the current emperor, and she was chosen to be the first wife for his son, Jianyu. Initially, Xifeng was against the idea, but she knew that there was no backing out of it. However, Jianyu's general kindness and strength, as well as the way he was a good father to the children they would later have, won her over and she slowly grew to love him.

They were married young, as was the custom, and a few years later the emperor died, making Jianyu the new emperor. They soon had their first child, a daughter, Lei, followed by a son, Aiguo, the crowned prince, and a stillborn baby boy. After that third child they decided that the two they had were all they were meant to have, a good balance too, a girl and a boy, so they stopped trying to have more. He went on to marry some other women as well, which is normal for a man in his position, mostly political marriages, but she didn't let it bother her. Instead, as head wife, she created a sense of balance and harmony within the family.

After a few years of this, a neighboring nation decided to try to take advantage of the still young emperor and began to attack, trying to take over. For many years the war raged on between the two nations until finally the battlefront reached the gates of the capital city. As a precaution, the women and children of the city were teleported to a safe location, though Aiguo opted to stay behind with his father to prove his worth as a man. This ended up being a wise move, as the city was soon overrun and the emperor and prince both assassinated.

Now in charge of the remnants of her people, Xifeng struck a deal with Enclave leader Frank Horrigan, who built a new home for them, Xenshi. To keep peace and appease the other wives so that there would be no attempts to overthrow her, she gave them all positions of leadership as well.

During all of this, Huiqing was always by her side, as promised, as she had trained to become captain of the palace guard. When they made the move to Xenshi, Xifeng made her a sworn sister and general of their small army. Xifeng found great comfort in having her best friend around during these troubling times.

While reaching out to make alliances with other countries, Xifeng sent Huiqing as an ambassador to Konoha to check out the nation and form an alliance with them if she judged them to be a good ally to have. With Huiqing gone, Xifeng started to feel a hole in her life and missed her terribly. Huiqing had started to gain confidence and became more playful with Xifeng before the trip, which had reminded Xifeng of their time together as children and she found herself once again feeling those warm fuzzy feelings.

She was very conflicted, worried that she might anger the ancestors and her late husband if she were to pursue a romantic relationship with Huiqing once more, bringing bad luck upon her island nation. After much prayer and bargaining with the ancestors and the spirit of Jianyu, a few things were settled. First of all, to preserve the imperial line, Lei was declared to be heir to the throne and her future husband was to take her name, an odd move, but it would ensure that the Ong dynasty would continue. Secondly, Jianyu allowed Xifeng to pursue Huiqing. He could see that she was lonely and would rather her be with another woman than to remarry.

Upon Huiqing's return, Xifeng approached her, careful to make sure that she was offering an option, not ordering her to stay the night. Huiqing gladly accepted and the two have had a secret romance going on ever since.
