Location: Xenshi Island

Population: Xenshinese humans. Most adults are female. Immigrants from other places are welcome and a few already call Xenshi home.

Culture: Xenshi is mostly based on Ancient China, with some touches of other Asian cultures.

Magic: The five Chinese elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water

Technology: Mostly Ancient Chinese level of technology. However, newer things are not shunned so long as it doesn't endanger anyone or disturb the peace, so a few of the Xenshinese have taken up learning how to use newer things and immigrants from other lands are welcome to bring their tech with them.

Government: Monarchy. While Xenshi is technically a kingdom, the ruler is referred to as Emperor or Empress for historical and cultural reasons. The current ruler is Empress Ong Xifeng.

Capital: Xenshi City

Climate: Xenshi is on the warm end of the temperate region and has a generally wet climate. They have hot summers that are cooled by the ocean breezes and mild winters that only see a couple inches of accumulated snow.

Wildlife: The vast majority of the flora and fauna on Xenshi was brought there by the Enclave and then left to sort its own balance out. The forests are mostly made up of deciduous trees, with very few evergreens. Many plants that bear fruits and berries were planted there as well. There are also thickets of bamboo.

As for the animals, the birds, lizards, snakes, and frogs found their own way there naturally. Added to that were snow leopards and mountain goats in the mountains and a wide variety of other animals down in the forest and grassy areas, including leopard cats, foxes, badgers, mongooses, otters, porcupines, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, wild donkeys, and bats.

The Island: The island is situated a two-days boat ride from the coast of the Mainland. It has a nice variety of landscape, with mountains protecting it on three sides and a natural cove to provide safe harbor for ships, as well as forests and fields. The two cities on the island are the main city of Xenshi itself plus a small port town on the harbor. Xenshi Port: This is just a very tiny town with docks, mostly populated with fishermen with a small inn for ship crews. This is mostly just used as a landing/departure point for travelers to and from the island and there is a road and a ferry upstream to the city. (If there is interest in expanding the port town, that is fine) Xenshi City: The city itself is built in the shape of a circle with a wall around it for protection. A river flows through it to provide the city with water. The buildings are all in an old Chinese style architecture with the sloping rooftops and bright colors. Red is the most prominent color used in the city as it is thought to bring good fortune and scare off evil spirits. Yellow/gold is also used, although more heavily in places like the palace and the temple as it stands for both prosperity and spirituality. Farmlands: While there are also some located outside, farms are mainly inside the walls of Xenshi City to both give them protection and also to continue to provide food for the city in case there is a siege. They not only feed the city, but help in the production of Xenshi's major exports of rice, tea, soy, spices, paper, and silk. Mountains: The Tian Shan mountain range runs along the island, forming a sort of semicircle. There are three major peaks: Baiyun to the northwest, Longhu to the northeast, and Cangyan to the south. Longhu is the largest of the three. Mining for metal ores takes place in Baiyun and Longhu, although it is a comparatively small operation. Forests: There are two sections of forest on the island. Inside the semicircle of mountains lies the Xinsheng Forest. Outside of the mountain range is the Gongqing Forest. Rivers: There are five major rivers that all eventually lead into Xenshi Bay. They are the Yellow River, Black River, White River, Green River, and Red River, named for the relative direction they flow. The Yellow River flows through the heart of Xenshi City.
