The history of Kaymakli City actually begins on one of the many versions of Earth. It was the year 1943, toward the end of the Second World War, and an experiment was being conducted by the military in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The aim was to use Albert Einstein's unified field theory to render a warship invisible, and the test was carried out upon the USS Eldridge and her crew. What has since become infamously known as "the Philadelphia Experiment" was a success - the ship and her crew vanished - but were never seen again.

The USS Eldridge and her crew of 15 officers and 201 enlisted men found themselves on a new world, Arda, 200 years before present day. At first confused by finding themselves at sea and unable to reach anyone via radio, they soon sought harbor, hoping to find answers. At the mouth of a large river, they found a small port and fishing town that appeared to be something out of the middle ages. They were informed by the villagers that they were no longer on Earth, but a different world altogether. For the first several months, attempts were made to reverse the experiment and return home, but they had no luck at it and had to accept their fate - they were marooned on a strange new land.

At first the sailors offered their services as protectors of the town from any outside forces, which they were surprised to find were quite often literal monsters, in return for food and lodgings. Eventually they began to settle down, some taking wives from the village while others dedicated their lives solely to the improvement of the place. Some became farmers and fishermen, while others followed their desires and skill sets to do other things. They brought with them their knowledge of things like electricity, indoor plumbing, medicine, motors, and radios, all of which were quite novel to the area. The sailors became construction workers, engineers, scientists, and even teachers.

As the living conditions of the town improved, it started to catch the attention of other nearby villages who then wished to move and merge with the port town. Everyone looked to these newcomers as bringers of great wisdom, and so they were set in charge of the growing city, as well. They decided as a group to name their new city after the one they had left, Philadelphia. They made a recreation of the Liberty Bell and set it up in the city square, a symbol of the freedom that progress and democracy brought, may it ever ring clearly.

Eventually things grew and progressed, as the way that human civilizations tended to do, until it became the large city with slightly futuristic technology that we have today. All was well, but it was not to last. Over time, the government had become more and more corrupt. When the city faced an attack of ice zombies several years ago, it plunged them into chaos. Philadelphia became fractured and was under the rule of several different gangs and mafias. When a neighboring nation saw the distress of Philadelphia, they besieged it with the intent of bringing order once more to the city. After several months, the Kaymakli military finally liberated Philadelphia from their criminal government and gang warfare.

As time went by, the city of Philadelphia would shift from a once semi-independent city to being Kaymakli's political capital as the major syndicates were taken down and the ice zombies which once terrorized its' citizens were quarantined. The city then took on the name of Kaymakli City and accepted its place in the new nation.

The ice zombies proved to be troublesome, however, and so after some time of seeming inaction, a radical group decided to set off a nuke within the forbidden frozen zone. It was only large enough to severely damage the zone itself, luckily. That area has since come to be known simply as "the Zone."

(King's Cup trophy)

Government: Constitutional Monarchy with a locally elected mayor

Religious view: No state religion exists. Everyone is allowed to view/worship what they wish.

Main source of income: Industrial, modern technological, modern agrarian, material trade, international trade agreements with Xenshi and Erufu.

Sports: Sports and competitions are important to many people in Kaymakli City, whether they are participating, gambling, or simply spectating.

Soccer – Consists of four different league types (4th Division League, 3rd Division League, 2nd Division League, King’s/1st Division League) with the top three teams of the lower leagues being promoted to the next highest league (with the exception of the 1st Division League) and the bottom three teams of the league being regulated to the next lowest league (4th Division League being excluded).

Also consists of a tournament held between the first and second division teams called “The King’s Cup”. Teams from both divisions are randomly paired off in elimination tournament format matches. The final match of the Tournament is held on the anniversary King Zaron became the officially recognized monarch of Kaymakli. On this day all schools and businesses, with the exception of television broadcast crews, athletes, stadium crew, and emergency response personnel, are closed by law so that those who follow the sport may do so, and those who don’t may have a holiday from work. Businesses found to be open that are not sanctioned by the crown receive a hefty fine.

Baseball – Consists of four different leagues set up in a similar fashion to the soccer leagues.

Rugby – Consists of four different leagues set up in a similar fashion to the soccer leagues.

Fencing – Consists of both individual tournament leagues and group tournament leagues. Athletes are allowed to choose the fencing style they wish to participate in (Elvish, Xenshinese, Large Blade, Rapier, Katana, Mixed). All blades are blunted and with the exception of mixed, all combatants are restricted to the predetermined style format. All combatants are also armored/padded. Points are scored based on touch zones/form adherence (exception being mixed form matches which are based solely on touch zone points.). Tournaments are divided into nation-wide ranking, with amateur tournaments being the lowest ranked tournaments and going all the way up to professional levels.

Unarmed Combat Sports – Follows same layout as Fencing with competitions being organized into styles (boxing, Xenshinese combat, mixed martial arts, ect), individual and team competitions, and national rank.

Racing – Even the people of Kaymakli feel the need for speed. From Professional GT Associations to aero-racing and motorcycle racing associations, if speed is your sport than it can be found within Kaymakli. There are currently rumors of a new circuit opening within the bad land district of Kaymakli City once radiation levels have dropped to suitable levels.

Kaymakli as a nation is generally open to all so long as the laws as followed. After all, it is both a military nation that tries to remain out of international conflicts and a nation run by a vampire and werewolf which isn't a den of murder/slavery (i.e. goes against common narrative).

If someone wants to play an official position such as a higher government member/military officer they would need to contact me (Ed). This is mainly so I can make sure they get the correct information for their position. Same applies if they want to be a member of the royal guard, but that is more due to the special stipulations (they being blood bound to Zaron specifically).

Only a couple of blocks from the Zone sits a four-story building which houses a magic shop, a blood bar, and apartments and is owned by an elderly lady by the name of Thisbe McAdie. Others in the area began referring to it as an insane asylum because of the odd types it seems to attract, and eventually Thisbe decided to adopt the name "Asylum" for the building as a whole, meaning instead that it is a temporary refuge.

Notions and Potions: The first floor of the building is a potions and enchantments shop. Many different kinds of potions and enchanted items are ready for sale, but requests can also be made. The daytime shop hours are kept by Thisbe, the potion-maker, and the night hours by Misae Calder, the enchantress. Also, if anyone should be in need of a paranormal specialist due to unfriendly spooks or phenomena, a note can be left at the store to get in contact with Heloise Lacroix. An example of some of the potions offered at Notions and Potions can be found at the bottom of Heloise's [profile].

The Blood Bank: The basement houses the new blood bar and nightclub, the Blood Bank. Hunter Gabrielolus built the bar to serve the darker elements of Kaymakli City. Various blood drinks are available and are all certified to be disease free. Alcoholic beverages by Narcissistic Bastards Brewery are also available for purchase.

Apartments: Floors two, three, and four are all apartments. Thisbe, Misae, and Heloise live on the second floor. There are several apartments for rent, and Thisbe welcomes those who have been turned down elsewhere or are newcomers to the city or to the world, provided that they don't start trouble. The uninhabited apartments are slightly damaged from the shockwaves of the nuclear blast, but are safe to live in otherwise. In return for fixing up an apartment, a person can live there free for the first six months.
