Capable of performing superhuman feats of strength and skill, and possessing great knowledge on all things military, they were employed in the name of preserving peace and prosperity for the Arva Corporation; a plutocratic/oligarchist government led by the Right and Honorable Ariadne Vaillant. The greatest of these S.O.L.D.I.E.Rs were called "Enhanciles," created to be able to tackle situations so deadly that no fighting force could possibly parallel their prowess. They were put to use immediately, deployed into the heart of the Baker's Dozen War. They saw victory after victory but the enemy still managed to stay one step ahead of them. In the end, The Arva Corporation fell from treason within its board of directors. A trusted board member had served as a mole for the opposition ever since P.A.T.R.I.O.T's creation. Many of the S.O.L.D.I.E.Rs were captured and executed as war criminals while the Enhanciles disappeared to the four winds.

Diablo was contacted years later by one of his former comrades, a fellow Enhancile codenamed Oxyd. Oxyd begged Diablo to kill him since the Enhancile Solution they were given had seemingly granted them immortality. At first, Diablo tried to talk Oxyd out of it but in the end, after hours of conversation, Oxyd lay dead and Diablo once again disappeared. The other two Enhanciles, codenamed Hammer and Venus, discovered what Diablo did and took up a manhunt that would span three quarters of a century, vowing to put an end to his madness. Diablo managed to elude them for that entire time, dropping a series of false positives in order to keep them well away from the life he was trying to live: A marriage, a steady job as a club owner and the promise of something greater in the future. Out of seemingly nowhere, Hammer and Venus arrived on his doorstep. They battled for hours, a fight the likes of which hadn't been seen since the war. In the end, Diablo emerged victorious but saddened. He'd slain the best friends he'd ever had and destabilized his mountain home so much that it eventually came crashing down on their heads, killing his wife and nearly him in the process.

After selling the business and what goods he could salvage, he disappeared once more, setting out to wander the world to see how much it had changed. How much it had forgotten. Eventually, he decided to settle once again, deciding upon Xenshi. Its tranquility, simple way of life and immersive culture were the primary lures. Everything else, his friendship with the Empress, the various people of the island and now his position within the military, has been an incomparable gift.
